Hotelmaster theme file not found.{"id":4432,"date":"2016-04-26T16:15:59","date_gmt":"2016-04-26T16:15:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/laterrazab-b.com\/de\/?p=4432"},"modified":"2016-04-26T16:15:59","modified_gmt":"2016-04-26T16:15:59","slug":"the-amazing-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/laterrazab-b.com\/archives\/4432","title":{"rendered":"The Amazing Race!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/laterrazab-b.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/exoctic-birds-costa-rica.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-52\" src=\"https:\/\/laterrazab-b.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/exoctic-birds-costa-rica.jpg\" alt=\"exoctic birds costa rica\" width=\"230\" height=\"170\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/a>Im sitting\u00a0on my veranda looking over the tropical grounds this evening; it suddenly crossed my mind how crazy our innate desire to quickly complete stages in our lives can be. \u00a0If you take a good look back into the past, you will remember that when you are about 4 years old you can&#8217;t wait to advance to five years old so you can go to kindergarten. \u00a0Once you arrived at kindergarten you couldn\u2019t wait to get into the first grade. \u00a0Then as nature would have it, after the first grade, your scholastic dream is almost immediately set for high school with the \u201cBig Kids\u201d. \u00a0In our<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>minds<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>we always want to start out by doing \u201cper say\u201d all the things the big kids are doing. \u00a0 Finally around the age of 16 we felt we had arrived. \u00a0We felt like grown folk simply waiting to be launched out into the adult world. \u00a0<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Hey<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>remember\u2026 that\u2019s not the end. \u00a0Don\u2019t forget that after high school graduation when everyone continued referring to us as babies, we wanted to rush to the age of 21 because by then and only then would we arrive at that first grade<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>ideal<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>of our final destination. \u00a0 At that point, if you do something serious to truly embarrass yourself or taint your social standing no one is going to call your Mother! Hopefully!<\/p>\n<p>But of<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>course<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>life\u2019s race is never ending. \u00a0Our rush against the time is now driven by our desire to finish college\/grad school, start a wonderful career search or sometimes, simply to start a family of our own. \u00a0 Just when you think you have it all together your buddies are ribbing you about celebrating your 29th birthday. \u00a0What feels like only a couple months after that party and race for more time, you find yourself celebrating you\u2019re the big \u201c40\u201d birthday. \u00a0At this point for most of us, \u00a0is the time when we began to dream and even focus more about the dream to eventually retire. \u00a0Miraculously, we understand a lot of<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>language<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>that involves the stock market we could not comprehend 5 years prior. \u00a0We began conversing more about saving money for retirement along with the financial push to assure college tuition for the kids.<\/p>\n<p>Around the time that we have only been in the<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>work force<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>twenty years and now are striving to keep the kids in the house for their safety but at the same time trying to get them out of the house. \u00a0 That little island paradise or big valley where we will quit working begins to whisper your name and appear in our dreams more frequently.<\/p>\n<p>What a race! \u00a0It\u2019s as if we spend most our lives speed reading, flipping through the book of life\u2019s pages determined to finish first. \u00a0 The funny part of it all is the fact that we all have to age to reach retirement. \u00a0The realities of aging never really occur to you while your racing.<\/p>\n<p>My husband and I married very young and in<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>hind sight<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>we hurried a lot of our lives away but eventually there came a time when we started trying harder to<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>back track. \u00a0It was almost as if one morning we looked into a mirror only to find out that all the while we were racing against time, time was racing against us as well. \u00a0What seemed to be infallible tight areas of skin on my body started sagging? \u00a0Areas I had no fat in began to hold what seemed like a warehouse of fat..lol. \u00a0 Okay, I don\u2019t want to be negative or scare you but let me finish. Lol. \u00a0Your bones start squeaking, joints begin to pop and\u00a0one of the biggest surprises is that instead of growing as when you were young you began shrinking!<\/p>\n<p>A few months ago I went to a doctor and he measured my height, he said that I was 5&#8217;3&#8243; and I know I&#8217;m 5&#8217;4&#8243;. \u00a0I said \u201cplease measure me again,\u201d the turkey had a smile on his face when he said, \u201cJeanetta you are shrinking&#8221;. \u00a0I thought to myself humorously, Dear God, where are you? \u00a0 When the Doctor and I sat down for a talk, can you believe I asked him if growth hormones would be effective?<\/p>\n<p>Now instead of racing forward a lot of us began visiting the health food store checking out with a cart full of youth rejuvenation lotions, longevity potions and vitamin pills. \u00a0Oh<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>my Lord! All I wanted was to get to be five years old and make it to kindergarten! \u00a0It is hilarious watching seniors back peddling, that\u00a0are racing to turn the clock backwards. \u00a0Now days<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>you can get everything sucked out tucked up and zapped, that\u2019s all good but your internal clock is still ticking into the ibis.<\/p>\n<p>At the age of 85 my Uncle Paul asked my husband how old are<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>you<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Charles? Charles at the time was \u00a062. \u00a0Charles also had just received \u00a0a couple of his social security checks and was feeling real good about it until Uncle Paul lovingly<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>said ,&#8221; man it is all downhill from here&#8221;. \u00a0 Uncle Paul, as our elders like to do (inform us..lol), elaborated and begin to tell my husband Charles the things that would start coming with aging as a senior. \u00a0 Uncle Paul went on the tell Charles about his teeth, hair, eyes, joints, muscles, balance, memory and a few other things I won&#8217;t mention (use your imagination) lol. \u00a0Why did Uncle Paul through in this line? \u201cCharles my boy, when you are young money is spent on spare parts for a car but when you get older, you are in need of a few spare parts.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Man<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>the expression on<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Charles<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>face was priceless after that phone call. \u00a0I could have picked that face up off the floor and handed it back to him.<\/p>\n<p>Its funny when I was younger its seemed as if everybody was graduating, pregnant or getting married. \u00a0Now that I am<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>older sometimes I feel as if we did all that racing to push the clock ahead \u00a0to retirement just to eventually attempt just as hard to move it backwards in vein.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t laugh, but I stopped wearing a watch in the hopes \u00a0that by not wearing one\u00a0 I would slow time down. \u00a0To be honest, some nights I don&#8217;t like to go to bed because when I get up, I\u2019ll be a day older. \u00a0Then I remember that if I don&#8217;t get up I&#8217;m not alive, man that is the pits.<\/p>\n<p>Moving to Costa Rica does not change life\u2019s natural progression. \u00a0 I don&#8217;t care how slow the pace of life is here or the beauty\/tranquility of your final destination. \u00a0That sucker we call a time, keeps on racing. \u00a0Please don\u2019t feel that you have to race to retirement!! \u00a0Don\u2019t wish your life away!!<\/p>\n<p>Hey!! I\u2019m having a great time with this retirement life. \u00a0I eat well, travel often and exercise daily. \u00a0I\u2019m feeling blessed, meeting good people and loving it!! \u00a0When you get a chance to visit Costa Rica, \u00a0stop by, have lunch, \u00a0sit with me on my tropical Veranda.
